The Box Moor Trust is delighted to announce it’s winning images from this years Photographic Competition. It was a close affair with the standard of entry seemingly growing year on year.
Ian Waterfield nabbed first place with his shot of the Horse Chesnut trees on Station Moor, a fitting winner giving the Trust’s logo. Chris Ward came in second place with his atmospheric shot of walkers on Harding’s Moor, whilst Sue Case claimed third place and the People’s Choice award with her sunset on Bulbourne Moor.
All of the winners can be seen below, and the 2019 Calendar featuring all twelve shots is now available for purchase from our online shop!
January - Roughdown Common - Chris Ward
As a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Roughdown Common is managed under direction from Natural England.
February - River Bulbourne - Vicky Sinclair

March - Snoxall's Moor - Kevin Grace

April - Bovingdon Brickworks- Ron Smith
The scars of this once industrial site are now fading, as nature regains the upper hand.
May - St John's Church - Lee Davison
With the trees decked in colourful foliage, the roof and spire of St John’s Church appear as a ship amid a sea of green and red.
June - Station Moor - Ian Waterfield (First Place)
Such a recognisable emblem of the Box Moor Trust, the horse chestnut trees blossom in late spring and early summer.
July - Blackbirds Moor - Lee Davison
A birds-eye view of the brightly-coloured canopies of this traditional fair that visits the moor annually.
August - Station Moor - Sue Case
Beloved by visitors to the moor, these horses are taking advantage of a shady spot on a summer’s day.
September - Bulbourne Meadow - Sue Case (Third Place & People Choice)
The autumnal hues of the trees are picked out by the slanting sunlight of early evening.
October - Hay Wood - Ian Waterfield
Look up! The colours of autumn are above you in the woodland canopy.
November - Heath Park - Kevin Grace
A winding pathway of russet and gold leads you into this inviting scene at the gateway to the town centre.
December - Harding's Moor - Chris Ward (Second Place)
The pink tones of dawn are softened by early morning mist on a winter’s day.
