Grants

When surplus funds allow, The Box Moor Trust makes available a grant fund to eligible not-for-profit organisations within its Area of Benefit (broadly Hemel Hempstead and Bovingdon).  Sums of up to £2,500 may be awarded for one-off capital purchases associated with community projects. 

 The following grants were made to qualifying organisations in 2020: 

  • 1st Apsley Scouts: £2,500 for adaptations to meeting hut to make it Covid-secure.
  • Camelot Netball Club: £1,500 for purchase of waterproof and padded branded jackets 
  • Community Action Dacorum: £2,000 for purchase of computer equipment
  • Dacorum Dolphins: £500 for purchase of floats, swim toys and wire mesh storage box
  • Dacorum Talking Newspaper: £2,500 for purchase of computer equipment and memory sticks
  • Friends of Collett: £2,440 for establishment of vegetable patch and shed and development of nature trail
  • Hemel Hempstead Town Youth Football Club: £2,500 for IT equipment and website construction
  • South Hill School PTA: £2,500 for construction of an outdoor nurture classroom
  • Sunnyside Rural Trust: £2,500 for purchase of bakery equipment

In addition, £6,000 was awarded to Dacorum Community Trust for distribution by them to deserving causes during 2021.   

Covid-19 Support Grants

Due to Covid-19 restrictions most local voluntary organisations were unable to operate for some considerable time, resulting in a lower than usual bid for grants.  The unallocated funds totalled £6,060.00 so Trustees agreed that this money could be used to offer special Covid-19 support grants to eligible organisations that had incurred additional costs associated with the pandemic so that they could continue, or resume, their normal activities. 

The funds were distributed as follows:

  • Community Action Dacorum: £550.00 for purchase of sanitiser, anti-bacterial soap, touch-free dispenser and disinfecting wipes.
  • Citizens Advice Dacorum: £470.00 for anti-bacterial hand gel, wipes, hand sanitisers, sanitiser dispensers, gloves, masks, HDMI cables, Covid-secure waste bins.
  • Boxmoor Cricket Club: £500.00 for work undertaken to ensure safety of water supply following period of inactivity at the clubhouse due to Covid and for purchase of water sanitation supplies.
  • Bovingdon & Flaunden Tennis Club: £815.00 for purchase of hand sanitisers/dispensers and for the cost of relocating a defibrillator to the exterior wall of the clubhouse to allow for quick access while club is closed.
  • Boxmoor, Queensway and Leverstock Green Guide Huts: £900.00 for social distance floor stickers, hand sanitiser, disposable aprons and gloves, hand towels and dispensers, paper cleaning rolls, anti-bac spray, face visors + deep clean of guide huts.
  • St Lawrence Church, Bovingdon: £961.00 for purchase of two foot-operated hand sanitiser stations.
  • Boxmoor Good Neighbours: £384.00 for printing costs for Covid-responsive publicity material for distribution to vulnerable elderly members of the community.
  • Town Cricket Club: £740.00 for purchase of blue roll, sanitiser, wipes and sprays, dispensers, aprons, gloves, paper towels, Perspex screening, floor marker tape, signage, clipboards, whiteboards and markers, trestle tables.
  • Friends of Parkwood Surgery: £740.00 for purchase of sanitising stations + supply and fit of sneezeguards.
