Sports Clubs
Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club
The Box Moor Trust is proud to play host to three separate sports clubs. Hemel Hempstead Town Cricket Club was founded in 1850 and plays on Heath Park. Over the ensuing 170 years, HHTCC has grown and now boasts four Saturday sides, two Sunday sides and junior teams for both boys and girls.
Boxmoor Cricket Club
Boxmoor Cricket Club meanwhile is based a stone’s throw away on Blackbirds Moor. Founded in 1857 to represent the village of Boxmoor rather than the town as a whole, Boxmoor CC has grown and plays in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League on Saturdays, whilst also fielding two Sunday sides. It also has a thriving junior programme.
Camelot RUFC
Camelot RUFC is our youngest sports club, however even they can trace their roots back to 1919! The team played in Wood Farm until the late 1920s, when they merged with a team from Sunbury, Surrey. As a result of WWII the team folded. It was re-founded in 1951, initially playing out of Wood Farm once more, before moving to their current site on Chaulden Lane as a result of assistance from Dacorum Borough Council, New Towns Development Corporation and the Box Moor Trust. Today, Camelot boasts 6 senior men’s teams, dozens of youth teams as well as a lady’s team.
