Bird survey transect underway

If you have been wondering what the pink topped markers that have been appearing around the estate at the beginning of Spring are, wonder no more! They are a means of marking sections of our in-house bird surveying transect. The routes around the estate have been planned to have as much site coverage as possible to help shape our understanding of the number and species of birds that are interacting with the estate.

These routes will be walked monthly from March to June by our team of volunteers, who record not just the bird species that they can see but more often what they can hear. The hope is by repeating the same method year on year, we will be able to track the changes to bird life on the estate and develop our management accordingly.

The temporary markers will soon be replaced with more permanent posts now that the team are happy with the method for the surveys.
