Trustee Candidate 2025

Lisa Timms

Lisa Timms

I’ve lived in Boxmoor with my husband, two boys, and rescue lurcher for four years, and in Hemel since 2009. I’m a creative, empathetic and organised individual, with a passion for turning ideas into meaningful experiences. Leading the Heath Barn campaign for the past two years has taught me to face challenges with curiosity and openness. I bring experience in creative events, retail, hospitality, logistics and illustration. I believe everyone benefits from a collaborative mindset. I’m an advocate for the role of nature, creativity and community for our mental well-being and believe passionately in fostering pride for Boxmoor’s special places.

Manifesto
  •

I believe it’s important to bring a female voice to the Trustee Board – one embedded in empathy, creativity, and care.

I’m conscious of how our actions impact the land and how crucial nature is for our wellbeing. I’d love to help more people understand our connection, so they may willingly share the responsibility in stewarding the land for future generations.

My first experience with the Trust was through Nature Tots and Forest School when my boys were small-there is such value in engaging young people early to foster a lifelong respect for nature and pride in our local environment. I believe there are still untapped opportunities to involve children and young adults, as well as those who feel socially isolated. Nature can provide the perfect antidote to the fast-paced, online world of instant gratification and it needn’t be complicated. I’d love to work with the Trust to explore ideas such as organised litter picks, artist-led walks, foraging days and partnerships with local creatives.

I’m naturally curious and always looking at how things could be tweaked slightly to create a positive ripple that benefit many. I believe in looking beyond the way things have always been done to seek fresh ideas. I’m keen to understand the Trust’s day-to-day challenges and where new approaches could support existing efforts. A regular newsletter could help build a more informed community to reach and engage beyond the circles of social media. I believe everyone should be familiar with the Trust history and their fantastic work.
