Lynda Mills-Webb

I am a teacher, a scientist, and gardener and I can play a part in making Box Moor Trust a leading local resource in the Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, the new Natural History GCSE, the National Education Park, new Climate Leaders Award and the Nature Recovery Network. Box Moor Trust can become a key part of this movement, explaining to the community how they manage their estate sustainably and engaging young people in biodiversity mapping, data collection and analysis and by encouraging everyone with a garden to understand its importance in providing a stepping stone in a wildlife corridor.
Manifesto
- Every school, nursery school, community centre, sports centre is appointing a Sustainability Lead person to deliver the Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy
- Nurseries, schools and colleges are asked to develop their land to help halt the decline in biodiversity creating the National Educational Park; the new Natural History GCSE requires students to study their own local wildlife and ecosystems
- There is a new Climate Leaders Award set up to celebrate and recognise the work of young people in protecting the local environment
- The Nature Recovery Network, part of the Natural England strategy, is building a network of wildlife-rich places stretching from urban areas into the countryside focusing on restoring or creating habitats, corridors and stepping stones to assist wildlife populations to grow, move and recover
To restore nature our community must work together. I am a teacher, scientist, and gardener so I can play a part in finding the ways for Box Moor Trust to respond to these initiatives. This is a wonderful opportunity for Box Moor Trust to deploy its skills and experience to support the community towards becoming more sustainable and Climate Change Aware. Box Moor Trust can become a lead part of this movement by explaining to their beneficiaries how they manage their estate sustainably; engaging young people in biodiversity mapping, data collection and analysis, encouraging everyone with a garden to understand the importance of providing a stepping stone in a wildlife corridor.
