Introducing….1594 The Spirit of Box Moor!

The Box Moor Trust and the award winning, local Puddingstone Distillery are delighted to announce that they have teamed up to create a Special Edition gin, to celebrate the Trust’s 425th Anniversary.

Made using Juniper re-introduced and cultivated on the Box Moor Trust estate, 1594 The Spirit of Box Moor takes its name from the year in which the Box Moor Trust was founded.

To further celebrate the Box Moor Trust’s 425th anniversary, Puddingstone Distillery have created 425 bottles at 42.5% ABV. In addition, each bottle is adorned with an individually numbered swing tag, the paper of which is made from spent gin botanicals, handmade at the nearby Frogmore Paper Mill

Tasting notes – 1594 The Spirit of Box Moor is a classic London Dry style with a stripped back set of botanicals to showcase the profile of Box Moor juniper. The botanicals used are:

  • Box Moor juniper
  • British Coriander seed
  • Angelica Root
  • Fresh Lime Peel
  • Oris Root Powder

The lead citrus botanical is lime, a historical nod to the fact that Roses Lime Cordial was produced at Box Moor Wharf, part of the Box Moor Trust estate.

1594 The Spirit of Box Moor will be available from the Puddingstone Distillery shop and online store from 11th October, as well as at the Puddingstone Distillery stall at the Box Moor Trust’s Autumn Festival on the 12th and 13th October, on Blackbirds Moor.  £2 from the sale of each bottle goes back to the Box Moor Trust.
